AgCentral: Live. Farm. Grow!
AgCentral is a progressive agriculture supply service and country lifestyle retailer based in southeast Tennessee. We were founded in 1945 as many counties across the state each organized their own local Farm Supply Cooperatives. Several of those joined together to form Tennessee Farmers Cooperative in the same year, while other counties joined later. We are currently owned by over 2000 farmer members, with many of those owners now ‘4th generation Co-op members.’
HISTORY:
AgCentral’s original predecessor Co-ops were in Blount, Loudon, Monroe, McMinn, Meigs, and Roane Counties. AgCentral came into being on February 1st, 2015, the result of the merger of Foothills Farmers Co-op and Valley Farmers Co-op.
Foothills was formed in 2007 when Blount-Greenback Farmers Co-op and Monroe Farmers Co-op merged. Prior to that, Blount-Greenback was the result of a merger between Blount Farmers and Greenback Farmers Co-ops.
Valley Farmers Co-op was formed in 2004, the result of McMinn-Loudon and Roane Farmers Cooperatives joining together. Meigs Farmers had become a part of McMinn years earlier.
It’s interesting to note that Loudon Farmers, one of our predecessor co-ops, seated a farm lady on their very first Board of Directors, in 1945. Mrs. H.M. Thomas ran quite a sizeable operation, and some of our current customers and staff have connections to her.
